Bloomsburg Lacrosse Downs East StroudsburgBLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team defeated the Warriors of East Stroudsburg 7-5 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match-up on Saturday afternoon. Bloomsburg took an early 3-0 lead on two goals by Brittany Lucchesi (Ambler/Wissahickon) and one from Kelsey Quigley (Landsdale/Methacton). East Stroudsburg got on the board at the 14 minute mark on a goal by Renee Maniscalco. However, the Huskies fired back just over thirty seconds later with a goal from Sam Alexander (Willow Grove/Upper Moreland) that pushed Bloomsburg's lead to 4-1 at the half. In the second period, East Stroudsburg struck first on goals from Diana Ferguson and Katie Fretz to bring the score to 4-3 still in favor of Bloomsburg. The Huskies answered back with two goals of their own from Angela Picciotti (Chalfont/Central Bucks West) and Quigley with just over 15 minutes to play. The Warriors narrowed the score to 6-4 on another score from Fretz but Bloomsburg's Ashley Childs (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) scored just over a minute later to increase the Huskies lead to 7-4. East Stroudsburg's Fretz added her third goal of the afternoon with two minutes to play in the game, but it wasn't enough as Bloomsburg grabbed the 7-5 victory. The Warriors (1-5, 0-4 PSAC) were lead by Fretz who notched a hat trick and added an assist. Bloomsburg (3-7, 3-2 PSAC) was led by Quigley and Lucchesi who each scored twice in the win and Childs who tallied two points on a goal and an assist. The Huskies take on Millersville at home on Friday at 4:00 p.m. for another PSAC match-up. |
